In his effort to silence Trudeau, Jeff shined a “light” on himself as a conservative white male, misusing his authority to censor and standing in solidarity with the likes of an uneducated drug “friendly” radio host. This is an unconscionable violation of your subscribers trust.
I only subscribed to your paper out of default and struggled with supporting a newspaper that heavily promotes such unbalanced right-winged prejudice. I found myself laughing over last Sunday’s article where you lampoon Doonsbury while intruding your own opinion on the same issues. How naïve to think intelligent readers can’t see you hiding behind such nonsense. Your smoke screen to “protect your readers” revealed your true fears. It makes one wonder about your integrity and what else you are censoring for what you deem our own good. The irony is you disgraced the very freedom that allows for you to publish by censoring.
On the other hand, maybe folks will wise up to your antediluvian views on women? You could do a whole expose’ on how you do not respect their individual rights pertaining to reproductive issues and procedures or their freedom to choose a doctor. You can get creative with your headlines juxtaposing doctrinaire verbiage suggesting that shoving a foreign object in a woman’s vagina is for her own good. Get real, a compulsory transvaginal sonogram is invasive, to say the least. I wonder how the editor and the owners of the UT would feel if their loved ones were forced by law to experience being raped this way? Any state agreeing to require this medically unwarranted act is in violation of the Constitution meant to protect citizens.
What a blatant assault on women, shame on Jeff and UT; all this hypocritical fuss, while you run another comic, Mary Worth, about a despicable morally bankrupt character, and what about the classifieds continually advertising sex for sale, in addition you stand behind Roger Hedgecock’s hate speech and the drawings of Michael Ramirez. Fair and balanced news, my a… You are in denial and your failure to see both sides of an issue is why you cannot be taken seriously when it comes to journalistic veracity.
